The "close relationship" between the performance of diamond compact and the size of fine powder
Time:2018-04-27
A single diamond crystal has a very hard texture and also has extremely high wear resistance and thermal stability, but if the different crystals are together they will have different properties depending on the crystal faces. In the sintering process of the diamond compact, all the diamond fine crystal planes are arranged in an arbitrary direction, so from the macro direction, the sintered diamond fine powder is isotropic, so the impact strength of the diamond compact composite sheet is improved.
Diamond composites can be produced by formulating a mixture of diamond powders with different average particle sizes and statistical distribution levels. It is through the adjustment of the diamond powder particle size and gradation composition formula to achieve the adjustment of the performance of the diamond composite sheet. One of these aspects is that the smaller the grain size of the sintered body, the better the wear resistance of the sintered body, which of course is at the expense of the impact toughness of the diamond compact. If the opposite approach is adopted, that is, when the diamond micropowder formulation adopts a coarse particle size, the experimental result is that when the average particle size is increased to more than 48 μm, the impact toughness of the diamond compact is not significantly improved.
